This pretty much sums up my moods as of late, presented neatly in a four cell grid. Mixed thoughts and emotions are all over the place. Totally not intentional when I took these, it’s kind of crazy how things manifest themselves and are realized in hindsight. I guess you really can’t hide your true feelings.

Photo BoothIf you’ve ever been to an event with a photo booth, you’ll know that most photo booth vendors kinda suck – bad lighting, cheesy backgrounds, corny props, etc. The Bosco is, by far, my favorite. Flattering lighting and simple white. They even turn your four images into a GIF: Super fun!

Journal Fetish

Blank books, journals, sketchbooks, notebooks, whatever you want to call them… I want them. ALL. It’s a little bit of an obsession really. I swear it started in the 5th grade when the teacher announced we’d be making our own books. We each started out with a clean, blank book and we could put whatever our hearts desired in it. Some wrote stories. Others drew pictures. And for some reason, I couldn’t figure out what the hell I wanted to put in my book. But I was as excited as ever, despite sitting there staring at empty pages for hours. It didn’t occur to me then but now I realize the reason why I love journals so much is because they’re clean slates waiting for beautiful things to happen. I get giddy at the thought of its endless possibilities and the potential great ideas it will house. There’s a whole row on my bookcase of blank books that can attest to this.

My Sewbie business partner, Neil, put me up on the Moleskine book for Evernote after he yelled at me for not using Evernote often enough and I explained that I preferred writing my notes in an actual, physical book. Ta-da! The answer? The Evernote Smart Notebook. It satisfies my journal obsession and his techie tendencies. Proof that both sides of the brain can work together in harmony.

Oh, Christmas Tree!

So there’s this scene in the movie Untamed Heart where Marisa Tomei wakes up and there’s a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in her room. It’s there because the man who loves her, Christian Slater, set it up for as she slept, after he finds out that she misses real Christmas trees from her childhood. Sigh. It’s one of my favorite Christmasy scenes from a movie.

This particular scene popped up in my head recently after a friend told me he set up a real Christmas tree for an old girlfriend in her room while she was out. I was convinced he got the idea from this movie. He denies it. Whatever, dude. We all know guys with ideas like this don’t exist in real life.

‘Tis the Season

Now that Thanksgiving is over I’ve been trying to get myself in the spirit of Christmas. I mean, it’s only my most favorite-est holiday EVER!!! When I was young, I’d help my mom wrap gifts all night. I’d spend hours trying to perfect the tree. I’d sing Christmas songs at the top of my lungs. I’d even cry as I watched Frosty the Snowman melt away. Now that I’m older I find it a tad harder to get myself jazzed for the season so I’ve started to compile some things to help bring out that youthful, whimsical feeling once again, a holiday inspiration board if you will. Because with all the stress bringing me down, there’s nothing like some holiday cheer to bring me back up. In some weird magical way, it’s saving my life right now.
